What is airsoft?

Airsoft is a military simulation sport somewhat similar in nature to paintball, in which players participate in mock combat with authentic military-style weapons and tactics.

Unlike paintball, which uses paint-balls as projectiles, Airsoft guns usually use 6 mm spherical projectile (pellet) made typically with injection-moulded ABS plastic. The 'weapons' used in Airsoft are generally exact full size replicas of military weapons such as the Colt M16, H&K MP5.

The sport is extremely popular in eastern Asia, in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where real arms are difficult or impossible to obtain because of local laws.

For this reason the vast majority of airsoft guns, accessories, and aftermarket upgrade parts are made in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Korea. Airsoft has been since made illegal in most parts of Mainland China (the Hong Kong SAR being apparently excepted).

There is currently a growing interest in the West again, especially in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Denmark, bolstered by an active and expanding Internet scene.

Who can play?

Anyone who is reasonably fit and mobile, (ie breathing and able to walk).

Under 18's either need to be accompanied by parents / guardians or get a waiver sign by the responsible adults. There is no upper age limit. The lowest age limit is 11 years old.

People choose to play Airsoft for a variety of reasons, including as it happens to help them get fit.

It's an ideal way to let off steam and pent up frustrations of sitting behind a desk all week. It is carried out in a safe way, with simple rules and plenty of help for those needing it.

Where is airsoft played?

At Elite Battlezone our environment is called Urban. It basically consists of offices, warehouses, storage areas and walk ways.

Airsofting can also be carried out outdoors, often in wooded environments to provide cover.

What type of clothing and footwear should I wear?

Whilst Elite Battlezone is completely undercover, it is highly inadvisable to arrive in flip flops and shorts! Good footwear is essential, and we would highly recommend some good quality boots. Ankle support will be most welcome, as often you will be so engrossed in the action, that small trips and slips may occur. In the winter, normal outdoor clothing will be fine, minus of course the need for any wet weather gear. In summer, less clothing is needed, but it is still advisable to wear long sleeved tops and long legged trousers as they will reduce significantly the felt impact from the BB’s

What will I need to take part?

For the total novice, only enthusiasm and an ability to follow safety instructions. We can provide you with full face protection, a gun, magazine and ammunition. Once you decide that you enjoy the sport and decide to take it up as a hobby you can then start you own “load out” adding Rifles, Pistols, and various other bits of equipment that take your fancy.

What kind of hire equipment do you offer?

We offer as rental equipment, the exact same stuff you can buy in high quality retailers. We do not offer “cheap clones” as we feel that in some ways it will diminish your enjoyment of the day. Many people often buy the same equipment that they use for initial hire and as such hiring can be a very inexpensive way to “try before you buy”.
